Embracing Mysticism: Virginia's Journey of Spiritual Rediscovery and Creative Practice

Clever Kim Season 4 Episode 48

What do you wish I asked this guest? What was your "quotable moment" from this episode?

Virginia, a Tucson-based mystic and tarot reader, takes us on her enchanting journey of spiritual rediscovery. From early ghostly encounters that initially shut down her metaphysical abilities to reawakening her mystical path five years ago, her story is one of fearlessly embracing one's authentic self. Virginia's daily rituals—like stirring coffee with blessings and using protective imagery during showers—infuse intention into everyday moments, offering a glimpse into her unique spiritual practices. Her crystal "armor" for aura protection and her range of products, including scrubs, bath bombs, and candles, reflect her dedication to blending energy with creativity.

Navigating the intersection of mysticism and capitalism is no easy feat, and Virginia candidly shares her experiences with imposter syndrome and the frustration of relying solely on spiritual gifts for material needs. She highlights the role of intuitive insights and spirit guide communication in affirming one's path, while also stressing the importance of ethical discussions within the witch community to dispel misconceptions. Rejuvenating spiritual energy by connecting with nature and the accessibility of these practices help Virginia maintain balance and authenticity in her mystical endeavors.

Virginia's journey is also about honoring those who have influenced her path. By crafting personalized items like candles and jewelry, she pays tribute to figures who have shaped her spiritual and professional life. Her advice to newcomers in the mystical realm is empowering: believe in your potential and take up space. With her daughter, Virginia creates jewelry, emphasizing regular cleansing rituals as a cornerstone of spiritual health. Her story intertwines mysticism, creativity, and personal growth, offering inspiration for listeners eager to explore their own spiritual journeys. Explore Virginia's world further by diving into scents like 'Self-Love' and 'Surrender,' each narrating a chapter of her spiritual evolution.

Kimothy:

Welcome back to your Average Witch where every Tuesday, we talk about witch life, witch stories and sometimes a little witchcraft. In this episode, I'm talking with Virginia, a witch and tarot reader. Here in Tucson. We talked about growing up with ghosts, working with nature and scrubs, composts, working with nature and scrubs. If you'd like to get a reading from Virginia, she'll be doing readings at the Ninth House, at Libra and Thorn and at Bookman's in 2025. Now let's get to the stories. Virginia, good morning, welcome to the show.

Virginia:

Good morning. Thanks for having me.

Kimothy:

Thanks for being here. Can you please introduce yourself and let?

Virginia:

everybody know who you are and what you do and where they can find you. Sure, my name is Virginia. My business name is Victorious Visions with V. I am a tarot reader intuitive. I use a lot of intuition to engage with people's guides and provide messages. I am on Instagram at victoriousvisionswithv and I'm also currently at Libra and Thorn reading every Friday and every other Sunday.

Kimothy:

Yay, that's near me kind of. What does it mean to you when you call yourself a witch?

Virginia:

Well and okay. So if I'm going to be real Kim, I actually prefer the term mystic, because so much of what I do is not necessarily witch-like but more mystical. So what it means to be a mystic for me is getting in touch with my intuition and allowing that to guide how I live my life.

Kimothy:

What kind of family history do you have with mysticism or metaphysical practice or witchcraft?

Virginia:

So back when I was really little, my sister and I lived in the basement of our family house and my sister kept talking about how there was this ghost and it scared the crap out of me. And at that point I had heard um clear audience, using my clear audience, I had heard this entity in our family room playing with a microphone. Um, and so that point I kind of got very scared and shut down any and everything of all of the abilities that I might have had or had access to at that time, just because it scared me. And growing up I really didn't engage with any of that. It wasn't until about five years ago that I started dipping my toe back into this realm because I knew there was more out there.

Virginia:

As far as like family, I don't know, because we don't talk about that in my family, of course not. Yeah, it's kind of like we don't talk about Bruno. We don't talk about that in my family, of course not. Yeah, it's kind of like we don't talk about Bruno, we don't talk about that. But what I have come to realize in my current life and how I live my life now, is that the more I open myself up to this idea that there's a bigger world out there than my 3D reality, the bigger my reality gets. So I just continue to be open and do different things that allow me to continue to grow.

Kimothy:

Can you introduce us to your practice? Do you have any consistent or maybe even daily things that you do?

Virginia:

Oh, yes, okay. So I'm all about like building practices into everyday things. So stirring my coffee, we stir it clockwise and we put the intention of having blessings flow into my day. Different practices that I have for protection. That always takes place in the shower or the bath. So I envision that that water rushing over is a protective layer, that that water rushing over is a protective layer and it provides my 3D reality, this meat suit of a body with the protection to be able to go out into the world.

Virginia:

Now, as I've grown in this practice, I also so I with my business I have different scrubs that I use. I use a sugar scrub at the beginning of the day to add sweetness into my day and then, depending on what I'm getting into that day, I have different types of scrubs. So I use a self-love scrub if I need just a little bit of extra love. I have a forgiveness scrub which I love to use on my feet, especially now because I'm forgiving the people who are trying to walk all over my ability to be a woman in society. So, again, I build those things into my day. I also have a surrender scrub which I've been using a lot lately and I use it on my chakra points, to be able to surrender my will and allow the better will for humanity, for our existence, to take over.

Virginia:

So again, there's lots of different things. I don't know if we have time to go into all of them, but one of my most favorite things is, after I've done the whole act of creating this barrier on my body, as I'm stepping out and drying off, I envision myself being I put on my crystal. Armor is what I call it. So when it's a piece of crystal, it refracts whatever people are trying to penetrate my aura with. It reflects it back onto them.

Virginia:

So that's probably the most important part of the everyday rituals. Another thing that I like to do before I enter my house, upon coming back from the day of all the things, is shaking off any negativity that might have stuck to me before I enter my own space. So it's like a car wash, so to speak, of being able to release what's not mine, because as an empath, I attract a lot of other people's energy. Does that make sense? There's a lot of different things that I do throughout the day that other people would consider witchcraft, but I just consider it part of my quirky personality. So I hope that answered your question.

Kimothy:

It did, and can people buy that from you on the internet?

Virginia:

They can, the scrubs, and they're also I just dropped them at Libra and Thorn. So all of my products, my scrubs, them at Libra and Thorn. So all of my products, my scrubs, my bath bombs, which have hidden crystals, which, again, I do a lot of moon work. So this past weekend, with the super full moon, I did soaks and, um, I have a magnesium spray. I do candles which are infused with energy, um, so yeah, this is all available at Libra and Thorn and through my website.

Kimothy:

Nice, how would you say? Your practice has changed your life.

Virginia:

It opened me up to the world of mysticism. So, prior to really diving into this, I was just well, what do you call it? Normies. I was a normie going about my business and just letting things happen to me. Now I realize the power that I have to call in what I want. So that's been probably the biggest change being able to manifest.

Kimothy:

I just want to point out that you and I met at a function at the Ninth House, which is a metaphysical shop here in Tucson, and that we ended up knowing the same person, one of the people that was in the human design business class that I took I don't remember how long one or two years ago. I don't have a concept of time. That works very well is how we know each other and is helping Virginia, along with her business, like that group helped me.

Virginia:

Yes.

Kimothy:

And I think that's cool.

Virginia:

It's a very small world when you get in tune with the energy around you. And I call her CB. That's how she introduced herself to me, but she's the one who actually gave me permission to figure out what my gifts were and how to use them. So they're a wonderful person. I truly admire her.

Kimothy:

What's the biggest motivator in your practice and has it changed since you first started?

Virginia:

Yes, so it has changed. Even though I'm a? Yes, so it has changed. Even though I'm a baby at this, it has changed. My biggest motivator is to be as authentic as possible and how I can support my clients in the work that I do, and the biggest motivator is being able to access and do different things for different clients. Um, and it changes. So it changes each day and for every person. Um, sometimes it's tarot cards. Sometimes it makes no sense that cards that come out with the message that I have to say. Other times it's I will create new products or new things because someone says I need that or I need this. So my whole motivation is to show up as authentic as I can be and provide and support people around me with the gifts that I have.

Kimothy:

I love that. Thank you. What is your biggest struggle with your practice?

Virginia:

What is your biggest struggle with your practice? The biggest struggle is living in society, mysticism and things that are beyond 3D reality. Having to function within that 3D reality, especially the capitalistic 3D reality. That is a major struggle. I wish I could pay my rent on witchcraft, but that's not what happens. So, yeah, that's my biggest struggle that balance.

Kimothy:

I also wish I could pay. I also wish that.

Virginia:

Right, I think everybody would. I mean, if we didn't have to worry about capitalism and we could just do what we're good at, wouldn't society look different?

Kimothy:

Damn it, money is stupid.

Virginia:

It is, it's very stupid.

Kimothy:

Do you ever have self-doubt or imposter syndrome about your practice? Of course, and if so how do you beat it?

Virginia:

Oh gosh, you know, Kim, I'm so glad that we had this conversation this week and not last week.

Kimothy:

Yeah, I spent the whole week crying.

Virginia:

Well, and I spent the whole week trying not to get stuck in that. But I understand 100%. So, yes, I suffer from imposter syndrome. I think if you are a human living in a meat suit body in this 3D reality, you're going to suffer from imposter syndrome. But what's wonderful is when your guides or your intuition show up and say hey, you actually know what you're doing. So can I give you an example of what happened to me last week?

Kimothy:

I love examples.

Virginia:

Okay. So I was in the process of saving a person's number into my phone and they told me a different name but I just put in I'm just going to say Susie. I put in Susie. We had only communicated via text and voicemail, so I hadn't had actual contact with this person. So Susie calls me and I call her by Susie, which was not the name she gave me. She just was like how'd you know that name? And I was like that's not your name. She goes that's my real name.

Virginia:

I gave you my middle name and I was like I always do this thing when something like that happens, I look up and I just go thank you. And it was not audible to Susie, of course, but I'm like thank you. I needed that to remind me that, yes, while it may be strange and odd and weird, my intuition is intact and it's guiding me. So that was a main one that hit last week that I was like well, if I didn't think I had gifts before, I think I do now, because she was calling herself something else. So imposter syndrome is real and I guess, whenever I do feel that coming on more, I lean on my guides and my spirit team to give me the concrete proof that this is real. This is actually the life that I'm living and it's it's meant to be other than the fact that you kind of seemed like a stalker.

Kimothy:

I agree that would make me uncomfortable. I'd be like what are? What have you been doing? Yeah, you've been Googling me.

Virginia:

Well, and she was like I didn't even say, and I was like yeah, I don't know how I knew that one and it, this was again. This was in a normie sense. I was, oh no, I was going ah, this is awkward, thank you for that, but can you like do that when it's not so awkward.

Kimothy:

You're making me seem dangerous. Can we not do that? What is your favorite tool in your practice? It doesn't have to be a physical thing. It can be like a certain smell that you like, like you burn some incense, or like a song um, well, and this is gonna sound strange, but it's my ability to communicate.

Virginia:

It doesn't have to be out loud and it doesn't have to be with anyone else, something, and then all of a sudden, bam, it shows up or in some way or something like that is one of my favorite tools that I use and I use it all the time. So my communication with my spirit team, that is a huge tool for me, and being able to figure out how different ways that that works, and being able to figure out how different ways that that works, that's, that's been it's really cool.

Virginia:

It's been super fun Let me just put it that way Super fun. It was very scary in the beginning, but now I am able to set boundaries and be like no, we're not doing that. That's not okay. That's about a hard no, we like I want to keep this relationship going, but nope. So that's the thing that I use the most.

Kimothy:

That's one of the most interesting answers I've gotten to that question. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's neat.

Virginia:

Yeah, that's neat, well, and it doesn't create or require anything but my mind, which I love because I can take it anywhere with me. I don't have to have a special crystal or anything.

Kimothy:

It's literally just my mind.

Virginia:

How do you pull yourself out of a magical slump? Uh, go to mount lemon or nature water, hug a tree, surround myself and ground myself in nature. Um, that is how I get out of the slumps.

Kimothy:

I still haven't been at Mount Lemmon. Oh so, and now it's cold and I'm not going to go because it snowed. No, thank you.

Virginia:

Well, I went up there after the first snow and it was magical.

Kimothy:

I like to look at it, but it's above 60. I think it's gotten above 60 and I'm freezing and I'm angry about it Right now in my house. I hate wearing all these clothes and a freaking blanket. I just want to wear shorts and a tank top always, I know, I know. Anyway, what is something you wish was discussed more in the witch community?

Virginia:

Ethics, ethics what practices are ethical and what are not? I think that if we as a community had more open discussions about ethics, we wouldn't be seen as the villains in the story.

Kimothy:

I think we probably would be, because of the way at least the Christians that I see out running their mouths, but we'd have more defense.

Virginia:

Yeah, and of course, there's always going to be those who just want to burn us regardless because we're different. But I do think that ethics as a community, if that was more of an open topic, I think that we would be stronger as a community.

Kimothy:

I agree. When I see it brought up, like on Facebook, it gets shut down one way or another, no matter which. Whether it's hey, I have no problem cursing someone, or you should absolutely never curse someone, it's always shut down really fast.

Virginia:

Yeah, yeah, and I think that if we talked about it more as a community and again, I think that would help babies like you know, newbies be able to find the communities that they're more comfortable in, because then they could align with people who have the same beliefs.

Kimothy:

I agree. Think about the three biggest influences on your practice, whether it's people or books or some scientific theory whatever. Thank them for the effect they have on your practice.

Virginia:

Oh well, I would you know, because I'm a creator, I actually did this last night. Oh, because I'm a creator, I actually did this last night. Oh, Kim, that's so weird. I created a candle for one of my very good friends in this practice and I can't wait it's don't tell her, it's going to be a birthday present Um, but that is honestly creating something to honor those individuals or just those things that help me, like, specifically, nature.

Virginia:

Creating something to honor that. That's how. That's how I do it. Um, so, like for one of my friends that was creating a scent for nature, it would be creating, um, I, I create a lot of, uh, a lot of jewelry, and one of my favorite, um, sacred geometry pieces is the tree of life, and that is a. It's paying homage. Homage to nature and to the ability to, for nature to reground me and recenter me and allow me to get back into contact with the, the earth. Um, and uh, yeah, I think. I think that that's how I honor and thank those around me is by creating things for them that also honor their journey.

Kimothy:

But who are they, who are your three or what are your three biggest influences?

Virginia:

Okay, so I would say my biggest three are, well, melissa um, who was the former owner of the ninth house. She she led one of the tarot classes that I took like the first tarot class that I took, and she introduced me to the world of tarot and that opened up such a big door for me. So she was one. I would say that CB is another one, because she gave me permission to be big and figure out what it is that I can do. And what I loved about that was she didn't tell me like these are the gifts that you have. No, she was like yeah, you have gifts. Figure it out, I'm not doing it for you, that's not my job. Figure it out, I'm not doing it for you, that's not my job. So, and and that's that's and by not like putting me in a box or saying, oh, you are a medium or oh, you are a, a, a, you know a healer by not putting a name on it, it allowed me to grow into different versions and abilities, if that makes sense, you became an alchemist.

Virginia:

Yes, and that's it. Yes, I became an alchemist and being able to turn some pretty sour stuff into some pretty beautiful stuff, um, and then the, the, and she's not the final person, but she has had such a huge impact on me, my friend Kinsey, because we get to be as different as we want to be and nobody we don't go. Well, that's too weird. Like, we just allow it, we just allow each other and having that space and that friendship to be able to explore all of the things, regardless of how weird it may seem in mainstream or to normies like. Just having that space and that person to be that free with that's amazing and I, yeah. So I think those would be the three people.

Kimothy:

I love that Melissa was actually the first person I ever interviewed.

Virginia:

Was she? She's amazing. Yeah, I really love her. Yeah, she's amazing. When I took that class it was so funny. On the last day of class I'm sitting there reading cards and I'm like I'm going to read at the ninth house one day. And sure enough, that's where I started reading was at the ninth house. Um and I'm there occasionally. I just haven't been there. I've only been there once in November, just because of time. It's the holidays, you know.

Kimothy:

Mm-hmm.

Virginia:

So yeah.

Kimothy:

What advice do you have for somebody just starting out in their practice?

Virginia:

take up space and allow yourself to get bigger, because the only way that you figure out what you're capable of is if you believe in yourself and you take up the space. That's. That was the permission that I needed, that I got and that allowed me to be able to do different things.

Kimothy:

Now that you've talked to me and seen what these questions are like and how I interact when you answer them, who do you think I should have on the show?

Virginia:

Oh gosh, I would say if you could get CB, that would be fabulous. And also I have a couple of friends that would be fabulous to interview as well. I'm not going to say their names on right now because I don't know if they would agree to it, but I have a couple of people who I would definitely be like, hey, you need to go interview with.

Kimothy:

Is there anything else you wanted to talk about anything? I didn't ask anything happening with you, any questions you had for me ask anything happening with you, any questions you had for me. Well, if I could talk about my product line for a second.

Virginia:

Is that okay? I would love it. Okay. So I created several different scents, and what I love to tell people about is the journey that I had to go through in order to create these scents, because it literally is a walk through my spiritual journey. So the first scent that I created is called self-love, and the reason I created that was because, in order for me to do any of this work, I had to allow myself to love myself, and I know in this society, in this day and age, a lot of people we don't have that ability to love ourselves, where we are and who we are. So for me, that journey was really accepting that I had to go through all of the pardon, my French the shit that I went through to be able to get to the person that I was when I created that scent, and that is the journey that I was supposed to go on. So, after I created self-love, then I createdrender, because I had to surrender my will to the will of the universe to take me on this journey. And while I was surrendering, it was the song by Tom Petty Free Falling kept coming into my head, because that's how it felt Tom Petty free falling kept coming into my head, because that's how it felt, like I was just free falling off a cliff but allowing myself to be caught by my guides and keep going. So I had to surrender in order to go to the next step.

Virginia:

For me, the next step was forgiveness, and this took a lot, and I'm not talking about forgiving someone else. I'm talking about forgiving myself for not acknowledging and being fearful of my spiritual journey, because for the longest time, I was not being authentically myself and it was because I was afraid, and so I had to forgive myself to be able to move forward. I will say that I got stuck on that step for a while and I had to sit in that and really allow myself to release. And again, this is not something that you just do once. There's times when I still go and I light my forgiveness candle because I internalize something that's not necessarily mine or I pick up something that I had already put down to be able to move to the next step. So after I was able to understand that forgiveness again, it's continual then I moved into the next step.

Virginia:

All right, so once I forgave myself, then I was able to actually dive into my intuition and really explore different ways that I can use my intuition, that my intuition shows up for me and that moved on to my ability to communicate and so that that that brought me to, uh, the communication scent and that really has allowed me to not only communicate very easily with my own team, my own guides, but also with those of other people. And then came the abundance. So being able to rely on those gifts to call in the abundance that I know that is there for me. So with those different scents that I created, I was able to make candles for each of those scents. I created the sugar and salt scrubs for each of those, um, I, um, I'm in the process of creating a magnesium soak for all of those scents, um, so that journey has been that really impacted my ability and giving them those specific names really helped me to know okay, you've hit another milestone milestone, and having people continue to share their stories with me gives me other ideas.

Virginia:

So the next center that I'll be doing is going to be called clearing, because it's important for us to clear away what's not necessary in order to move forward. And I don't know if you have moon rituals, but that's a big part of my moon rituals is being able to clear out what's no longer serving me, and that's actually like a weekly thing that I do. It's not just on the full moon or the new moon, it's clearing out what's no longer serving me so that I can make space for the next part that's coming in, and so, yeah, that's the story behind my spiritual journey and the different sense that I created to help with that. I also have some protection sense that weren't necessarily part of that specific journey. They were, but they didn't make it into the line because the scent was a little too, I don't know, personal for me. Not everybody likes patchouli like I do.

Kimothy:

I freaking love patchouli.

Virginia:

You do Well, hey, so maybe I'll get you one, but uh, actually that was another thing, that so I'm I, because I have all my products at Libra and thorn. I have to create more for my other clients and doing a protection magnesium spray that was going to be on the forefront of my list, because I need that. Um, and then I also create jewelry, um, that, that so earrings and necklaces and bracelets Um, I have a little girl and we love to create together and it's actually so much fun to be able to instill that, that creative joy with my, my, my, my daughter. So, and that's really sweet. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. We actually created a lot of different bracelets recently. That was a lot of fun to have her help me create them.

Kimothy:

I ask of my guests are thing number one. Please recommend something. It doesn't have to be witchy or or metaphysical or mystical, it can be whatever. It's just whatever you're into this week that you found recently and you're like, whoa, this is really cool.

Virginia:

Hmm, okay, um, I guess, because I'm all about cleansing and clearing, like in the work that I do, I pick up on a lot I, and I guess it doesn't even matter if you're reading tarot or if you're not, like not working with other people's energy, but just cleansing yourself, using salt to cleanse your, your, your aura and make sure that you're not holding on to any anything that's not yours or that's not in your highest good. That's, that's been my biggest thing since, I want to say, the beginning of November.

Kimothy:

Oh gosh.

Virginia:

Using using a salt specifically, it doesn't matter what kind of salt, but some kind of a salt to cleanse your aura and help purify it. That's that would be my advice.

Kimothy:

I actually have a rec. Oh yes, and it is. If you are local, you have to be really local. Eg's has the cherry cider for the flavor of the month, and that's my favorite thing that they make. So go get you one.

Virginia:

Oh, yes, yes, for sure.

Kimothy:

I'm always sad on December 1stst because then it's some stupid cherry holiday, berry, whatever, I don't care, it's not cherry cider, get out anyway. The last thing I ask of guests is please tell me a story. It can be a story from your life. It can be a story from your life.

Virginia:

It can be always had um a very, very sensitive subconscious and, whatever I watch it, it turns up in my dreams and um, evidently the scary movies called in something. I don't know what it was, but it was scary. And I was not the only one who was noticing it, my partner was also noticing it. Doors were opening and closing shadows like creepy, creepy stuff, closing shadows like creepy, creepy stuff. So I ended up going to my local metaphysical shop and I purchased some different cleansing and clearing things and I performed some different rituals.

Virginia:

I believe it was at that point that I also purchased my first Oracle deck and um. Oracle deck and um. So I did this and all of a sudden it was gone and and I was like, okay, that's cool, um, and that really kind of opened me up to, oh, I may have a little bit more oomph behind the things that I do than I originally thought. So I guess the moral of the story is is that, regardless of where you are in your practice, just know that there's always more things to learn, and every time I open myself up to something new, I do learn something else about different practices, different things that we can do and how to keep growing.

Kimothy:

I'm curious and nosy. How did you end up in a metaphysical shop?

Virginia:

How did you end up in a metaphysical shop? Because I knew that this was something that I wasn't just going to be able to be gone. No, I needed to actually do something to help clear my space, my physical space of this space, my physical space of this. And because it was showing up so aggressively, like with the doors and the shadows and the different noises that we would hear, I knew that it was more.

Kimothy:

I needed more help. Had you I mean had you been to one before.

Virginia:

Um, no, I mean back when I was a kid, like you know, growing up, and but as an adult, no, I hadn't. And for me to also decide that it was time to get a deck of cards. Decide that it was time to get a deck of cards, but I also think that it was, um, I was going through some very transitional times in my in my life and I was looking, I was actively looking for things that were going to help explain what I was going through. And you couldn't explain it with normie mentality, you couldn't explain it. So, and I think that was that, and that was when I was like, okay, here we go, let's just. That was my first dive. And then, yeah, there's a whole other story about that that partner too.

Virginia:

And then yeah, there's a whole other story about that, that partner too. But I don't know, yeah, I don't know if we have time to get into that, but yeah, it was it. It it opened up. It opened up it.

Kimothy:

It allowed me the key to open the door to my mysticism. Well, thank you so much for coming on the show and for telling me stories.

Virginia:

Yes, you're welcome, thank you for having me.

Kimothy:

It was so much fun. Oh good, good, uh, everybody, go down below, check out Virginia's shop, follow, click et cetera. Do all that I command. You Do it, and that's the end.
